ImageKnow the life General Milton W. Arnold Co-founder of our foundation, an exciting and full life of as much personal profits as for its country, also accompanied by a permanent vocation by the causes of aid to the others. General Arnold had a distinguished military and aviation career.

He was born in Troup County, Georgia, in 1907. He studied at the Georgia Institute of Technology, 1924-1927 and was graduate of the United States Military Academy in the class of 1931, General Arnold also earned a Masters of Science Degree from the California Institute of Technology in 1937.

In 1941 General Arnold was assigned to the Office of the Chief of the Air Force in Washington DC. In1942 he was in charge of the development of the North Atlantic Ferry route and the planning and operations of the presidential air transportation for the Casablanca Conference and the later round the world flights in 1943. He was then assigned to the 8th Air Force in England where he was a wing commander of the 2nd Combat Bomb Wing from 1944-1945.  In 1945 he was named Chief of Staff of the Air Transport Command in Washington DC.  In 1946 he retired from active service.

During his military career, General Arnold was awarded the Silver Star, Legion of Merit, 4 Distinguished Flying Crosses, Bronze Star Medal, 5 Air Medals, Distinguished Flying Cross (Great Britain), Croix de guerre (France), and Croix de Guerre (Belgium).

From 1946-1958 he was Vice President in charge of operations and engineering of the Air Transport Association of America.  In 1958 he was named the President of the General Aircraft and Leasing Division of the General Dynamics Corporation until his retirement.

 Prior to moving to Florida, General Arnold was also a successful businessman running both an oil and gas company based in Texas and an Angus cattle farm in Virginia. Throughout his life he generously supported many educational and civic causes.

 Mrs. Josephine Shore Arnold was a loving and devoted wife to General Arnold she stood by his side and cared for him until his life ended in 2004 she is now president of the foundation.
